The Representation of German Forest Owners at the EU was founded to effectively represent the interests of approximately 2 million German forest owners in Brussels. In light of increasing regulations and bureaucratic challenges arising from European laws and initiatives, we advocate for practical solutions that are both economically and ecologically sustainable.
German forests are characterized by high timber stocks and the urgent need for a climate-resilient forest conversion. Furthermore, around half of Germany’s forest area is in the hands of private forest owners. We therefore always evaluate forestry policy measures from the perspective of practical feasibility in order to identify conflicts at an early stage and develop solution-oriented approaches at the EU level. We are always available to provide advice to political decision-makers and other stakeholders in the field of forestry policy.
Together with our cooperation partners and European networks, we create a strong voice for the forest and the forest owners of Germany – for a sustainable future that combines ecology and economic viability.
